Greetings from the Editor-in-Chief

2026-02-21

It is with great pleasure that we present the inaugural vision of The Chinggisid History and Heritage Journal. Established under the auspices of the Chinggis Khaan & Mongol Empire Research Center, this journal emerges from a shared recognition of the enduring scholarly significance of the Mongol Empire and the Chinggisid world.

The history of the Mongol Empire transformed the political, cultural, and intellectual landscapes of Eurasia. Yet the study of this vast and complex world continues to evolve. New manuscript discoveries, archaeological findings, digital methodologies, and comparative approaches are reshaping how we understand Chinggisid polities and their legacies. Our journal seeks to provide a rigorous, interdisciplinary forum for this ongoing work.

We are committed to fostering original, source-based scholarship grounded in methodological precision and critical engagement with Mongolian, Persian, Chinese, Turkic, and other textual and material traditions. At the same time, we encourage transregional and comparative perspectives that situate the Chinggisid world within broader global historiographies.

Beyond historical inquiry, the journal welcomes research on the afterlives of the Mongol Empire — questions of memory, identity, heritage governance, and contemporary reinterpretations of the Chinggisid past. In doing so, we aim to bridge scholarly communities across regions and disciplines, strengthening dialogue between Inner Asian studies and international research traditions.

We sincerely hope that The Chinggisid History and Heritage Journal will serve as a leading platform for innovative, authoritative scholarship and will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Mongol Empire studies worldwide.

On behalf of the editorial team, I warmly invite scholars to join us in this endeavor.
